I play at my buddies place every few days, and on mine...why do I have to recover every time I switch consoles...sucks! Takes a good 10 minutes to recover it, haha.

Is there a better way to do this? So I do not have to recover everytime?

Get a memory card and move your profile on to it. It's portable then.

ehh, I never have it with me, pretty random when we play..

can I have it on there and on my console? will that work, or does it have to be in my main console all of the time?

You can only have your profile active on one console at a time. That's why you have to go through the recovery process every time you go to your friend's place and then yours. If you have your profile on your memory card and don't have the memory card with you, you'll have to recover the profile on to whatever console you are on and then recover it back to the memory card when you get it back.

That seems pretty logical, you would have thought people would have understood that. :p

Buy two memory cards, put both of your profiles on both, leave one at each other's house. Problem solved.

You can only have one active though...

Just plug in your memory card in any console and you can just use it directly. There shouldn't be ANY need to recover whatsoever if it's on the memory card.

The console and Xbox Live use some sort of hash system to mark profiles with a version, so that Live can expire out-of-date profiles for accounts that have been recovered.

You can get around this using a 360 Memory Card reader on your PC.

-Move your working profile to the memory card
-Take the memory card over to the PC and read it (It's a whole backup, it can't deal with individual files)
-Move profiles back to source 360
-Go back to PC and restore backup to memory card
-Move profiles to destination 360

Works perfectly, wife and I have done this to our 360s and never have any troubles.
