Hi,

I'm a newb to this board so hopefully this belongs in the section.

I have an audigy 2 zs hooked up to my logitech x-530s. I was wondering the best way to get my xbox hooked up to them. Is it possible to get the xbox into the "line in" on the audigy and still get good sound. 5.1 surround would be great, but I'm thinking I may need a receiver for decoder for that.

Like I said, I'm a newb so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forums.

What kind of output does the XBOX have? (I don't have one)

If the 5.1 output is digital optical or digital coaxial it's going to be hard to find an allordable solution for this.

If you use an RCA to 1/8" adapter and run it to the line-in on your audigy you wont get true surround sound. The best you're probably going to get is the stereo signal cloned to all the speakers.

EDIT: for example, this creative decoder would do what you want, but at $120 it's not a really good option for you if you're going to be hooking them up to a $50 speaker set.

If you're going to spend that much, you'd be better off
A. getting a set of speakers like logitech z-680s or z-5500s that have a decoder built in
B. saving towards a real HT set with a receiver

Thanks, I kind of suspected that. Actually, I do have a receiver that I'm not currenty using that's dolby surround. I don't have any speakers other than the x-530's, though. I know you can use SPDIF out to a receiver and play MP3's over the HT setup, but is it possible to use the receiver to decode (and hook the xbox up to the receiver) and output the receiver into the audigy and still be able to maintain surround. I'm skeptical about that, but figured I'd ask.

Thanks again.
