ok.
i have a sanyo ht30744,brand new its 16:9 format
i have an xbox w a 2.6 chip.
i purchased the hdtv pak(new)
i am getting signal noise (vertical lines, transparent, light shades of rgb) and garbled text when hooked up via component video.
i have tried all settings in video settings,i have tried all settings in tv.
none seem to make much difference.it seem like signal interference.
xbox play fine thru svideo, overlay controls are crisp as is everything else.
i dont have another xbox to try(as ive read,it could be due to the video decoder)
ive also read it could be a fault cable.
ive also read that the tv could be faulty.
i dont have a pro-scan dvd player to see if the same issues arise.
im at the wtf head in the blanket state right now.
where would you start?

is it garbled in games? or just the dashboard?
sounds dumb, but do you have all the right colors matching up in the component inputs?
try going into the msft dashboard and turning off 480p/720p/1080i. does it clear up?

Did you try both component inputs on the TV? Did you try connecting a DVD player to the TV using the component inputs?

On HDTVs with multiple component inputs, one is often a full-range (480p->1080i) and the other a 480i-only input. If you've got them mismatched, there's the problem! 😛

That's not the case with this model. They both handle SDTV to HDTV.

This is a known problem with the xbox and the sanyo tvs. Look around on AVS Forum for more information. I remember reading something about it there.
