XBOX: General have you done it question w/mods

Has anyone tried, or know if, the original matrix will work on the new style XBOX (1.1 w/2 free games) if you solder the pins where they should belong, as it obviously doesn't fit. From the websites, it LOOKS to me as if that is the only difference to the actual layout of the chip and motherboards, so I'm wondering if anyone has done it yet.

I have a friend who just got his Matrix and is going to try and put it in his newer xbox. I'll let you know what happens. Assuming this post is still here.
