xbox fable question

I just got a new plasma yesterday and I was trying to play my friends xbox on there.

I got fable and some hd cables. I played topspin with the component cables fine. But it wasnt widescreen, i thought all the xbox games could do widescreen.

Anyway, when I put fable in, the pictures goes crazy all over the place.

Is there something im doing wrong? It works fine with a regular composite cable.

the "HD cables" that you are talking about, is it the advanced HD pack from microsoft?

Why not?

Because it has the composite and s-video connections as well. IIRC, there's some external circuitry in the genuine MS box that enables actual HD modes (480p and up) that isn't present in the knockoffs. Hence, they can output component, but only up to 480i. 😛
