XBOX: (EA) NHL 2003 or (Sega) NHL 2k3?

I'm in need of a hockey title for my XBOX game library. A game that can be enjoyed single player, but also provide a fun environment when friends are over for some multiplayer... I've played NHL 2003 on the PC, it has great graphics but a weak UI . And most recently I've had an oppotunity to try NHL 2k3 on the XBOX. While not deep in the graphics and detail department, it seemed to be a more "sim" oriented game...




For anyone who has played both games on the XBOX platform, which game do you feel is better overall?

if you can stand the espn music and theme, go for the sega one...havent tried the ea version

I haven't played either, but have heard more positive things about the Sega version.

It isn't even CLOSE, Sega's game is BY FAR the better of the two. NHL 2k3 may be the best hockey game to date.

The only issue I have with it is that the goalies can be a little too good...but check out thunderpuck.com's forums for tips on how to make them more down to earth.

Ea's game is garbage, don't even bother. And this is coming from someone who has owned every EA hockey game from 94 to 02. I did NOT buy 2003, and probably won't buy 2004 either.

And take it from someone ELSE who has owned every EA hockey game from '94-'02, and even '03... murph is right!

NHL2k3 is way better than EA's version. Hell, I even enjoy NHL Hitz 20-03 more than NHL2003.


My only gripe about NHL2k3 is that (at times) they call offsides and two-line passes incorrectly. Same with icing... But then again, so does NHL2003.

sega nhl 2k3 also has live! support. it's the reason i bought it instead of nhl 2003

What's so bad about NHL 2003? I haven't played any of the competitors (only have a PC, doubt that there are any), but I enjoy it. The only main problem I have with it is that many of the goals are scored unrealistically (on the highest level, it is nearly impossible to score on anything other than a one timer or a breakaway), but it's still fun. What is it about 2K3 that makes it so much better?

Sega all the way. EA has turned into a sleezy company that pumps out bad games. Hot Pursuit 2 for the PS2 is going to be my last EA title I purchase.
