I'm planning on modding a samsung sd-616t dvd drive to use in my xbox but i don't know what each of the yellow wires in the plug for the dvd drive in the xbox are is there anybody out there that can help me out?
I did check xbox-scene and they only tell you what 4 of the wires are. I don't know if anybody knows wat the other 8 are or not but i thot i would check here and see
what benefit does having a samsung sd-616t drive in your xbox give you? Can you still read xbox game discs with it? Do you need to update to firmware to do so?
I was fortunate to get a samsung dvd drive with my xbox so I'm not planning on modding mine, just curious.
I got that Thompson drive, and I've had no problems with it (other than it sometimes takes a while to load up a PGR2 game, but still loads). My Xbox was bought in December 2001, a month after release. I figure I would be the first one to have such problems since its old.
The purpose of upgrading to a samsung sd-616t is faster read speeds and a better quality drive. the sd-616 reads dvd's at 16x rather than 2x and cd's a 48x rather than 5x. I got my xbox used for $25 because the dvd drive didnt work and ther is a chance the hard drive is going bad. i found some articles on how to do the mod but they only tell you what 4 of the wires are and you have to use a y splitter to power it off of your hard drive. I'm just trying to find somebody who knows what all of the wires are so that i can do the mod right. any help would be much apriciated
