Does Microsoft's X-Box supports "DVD-Video" formated media?
It must be exactly worded as "DVD-Video" as there are many formats for DVD discs (DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, etc.)

If you have an URL that fully describes the Xbox DVD media support that would be great.

I am almost positive it will play DVD movies. Will it play R or RW, thats another question. ALthough, the DVD capabilities will be LOCKED, unless you buy the special remote (like $60) to use its capabilities. This is to keep the Xbox unit cost down by shifting DVD consortium fees off the unit and onto the remote.

got to WWW.IGN.COM and look around thier Xbox section for official specs.

i just thought of another reason for a seperate dvd package: lots of people have been buying PS2s to play dvds as the primary function. the added fee for the remote and dvd license will keep people from doing that with the xbox.

I am waiting to hear more about the progressive scan capabilities of the Xbox. I have heard that the progressive capability would also require an extra accessory in order to work. I am dying to know how much more it would cost and how the performance would be.

A good progressive scan DVD player and all that gaming capability for that price.... I'm in. Should look sweet on my 32" XBR Wega.
