Xbox controller mod...

First of all this is probably a stupid question, but I want to be double sure. I want to mod a Xbox controller so I can use it on a computer, (duh) but I don't know if it matters if I get a USB or a USB 2.0 cable. Can anyone answer this question for me? Thanks in advance!
