Xbox at CES

Queasy

I'm watching the Microsoft CES presentation. I managed to start watching just as the Xbox portion came up.

Nothing too exciting unfortunately. They mentioned Halo Wars (demo on February 5th) and Halo3: ODST. Confirmed that Xbox Live Primetime is coming in the Spring and showed off 1 vs 100 again. Showed off Netflix and a windows mobile phone app that you can use to access your Netflix queue.

Now they are showing off Kodu which is a way to create games using a very simple programming language. They introduced a girl named Sparrow who created a game with the sub-heading "actual 12-year old girl". 😕 The programming language itself looks pretty cool and interesting though. Actually reminds me of the LEGO Mindstorms programming language.

This Spring according to this article. Everyone keeps comparing it to Little Big Planet but I just don't see it. This is much more programming-centric than LBP.

CES is so blah this year. The only damn thing I wanted to hear about was Sony's Blu-Ray mega changer, and that's been a total no-show so far. Some of the stuff about HDMI gaining ethernet and return-audio was cool, though - looking forward to only having to plug in power and HDMI to my consoles someday. 🙂
