I hope this isn't the price that Microsoft is going to sell them at. The system will fold because they have to catch up to PS2, and all the systems that Sony will have sold by then.

Chips and Bits

Maybe the system will retail for $299.99 and Chips and Bits are just making a pretty penny off of the hype and the stupid people.

If I recall correctly, the trend (in the console industry) was that the company loses money in console sales and makes money off the games. I doubt that the XBox will sell at that price, especially with Microsoft's huge budget backing it up.

Dont wet your panties. ;)

Thats for pre ordering only. The PS2 had the same price tag if you wanted to pre order it. MS will release the real price at E3 (speculated to be 299).

I think everybody is expecting about $300 US. $250 would be a nice surprise, but unlikely and $350 would also be very possible, but I'm thinking $299, although its highly likely that PS2 will drop to a retail of $250 around release time I would think...

There has been claims on the tech/business news that the Xbox will be price some where between $279~299. Microsoft is expect to loses $127.00 per unit (not including promotion/addvertising cost), but will make the money back in software sale by 2005.

By the look of your price it seem that the prediction is very close...losing $130.00 of your price will make Xbox intro price at $299.00.

$300 for the X-Box is all fine and dandy, but by that time Sony will have dropped the PS2 price to at least $250, and the GameCube will have debuted around $150-$200 (more likely $199). Which one do you think parents will be buying come Christmas time?

I agree with Adul, I hope the system is as good as they promise... Won't buy a PS2 until I see the XBox...

I didn't bother with the PS2...I WILL be getting an Xbox.

As much as people love to hate MS...

- They jumped into the OS market and now RULE
- They jumped into the Office software market and now RULE
- They jumped into the gaming market and KICKED ASS (Flight Simulator, Age of Empires)
- They come out with some hardware (like mice and keyboards) and KICK ASS

Is it really that hard to predict what's going to happen when the Xbox hits the market?
