Xbox 360

Meh, PC hardware has been able to do that some time now. Problem is that most people don't have high end hardware and PC software devs have to develop for the lowest system possible.

man....if the xbox sells for around 350 for that level of graphics.

what a waste to get a new 7800 right now. shame shame =

shame shame shame shame SHAME!!

This is how PGR3's artwork looks right now. On actual 360 hardware. Please bear in mind, however, that you're still looking at a work in progress video game, and that the final in-game effects and lighting aren't even in place yet. We're still a long way from the finish line, but things will only improve from this point on.
😀

that's a nice picture you got there...lol

wow, graphics cards have been 256 bit for the past 4 years... how is it soooo good if a 7800 costs 600 but that costs 350 and its way better?

So you're saying an unreleased game created, optimized for and ran on an Xbox360 will look better than a current PC game? NEWS AT 11!

The 6800GT/X800XL can render stuff like that and would be if low end users didn't hold us back.

It's a shame your processing power leaves much to be desired in that console. The poor GPU is going to be crying for the CPU(s) to keep up.
😛

Yeah if developers only coded for 6800GTs or better then the entire PC gaming industry will drop dead really quick. :disgust:

Reality check.....................................................They dont.

nice pictures....but those look like still image renders to me. when you dont have to do any frames per second you can get some nice stuff happening, but when you want hi res and 60+ fps something has to give

These are some of the screens they showed on G4TV. They wished there was a car in the scene but you know Microsoft they dont want to give anything away before launch.

With the price being 350.00 for a complete console Im definately in.

Racing, Sports, and Widescreen Games the Console rules over the PC.
PC wins in FPS and strategy.

Oh, my superscalar out of order dual core CPU and 7800GT is able to render those images while I made video encoding in the background and some other stuff like downloading some stuff form internet and running a php server, can a Xbox 360 do that? No, that's why the Xbox cost 350 (not including hi-res screen) and my PC costs 2000 (with hi-res screen).

lol, you honestly think that the current high end comps can't do that? lol, i feel for you..... pc hardware is at a level where it can run almost anything, just by giving up some fps. Honestly a 7800 with 2-4 gigs of ram and a fx-57 or x2 4800 could run BETTER then those screens....

W00t i bought a 42" Plasma Screen with HDTV compatibility and if i get an Xbox 360 that would cost me... ooo about £2200

My PC with screen cost me about 1600... So pretty much i saved quite a lot then and i can still play games which look as amazing as that.

Our High End PCs are more powerful than the Xbox, hence the additional cost, X360 looks better right now cause developers can utilize the 360's full potential, and can't with PCs because of the people with low end systems.

repost from like 2 months ago.....
If I had 5 million dollars and paid a few guys to develop a game specifically for my computer, it will blow away anything the xbox360 has to offer.

Take a look at the third link, second building image. Then the first "in-game" image with the car. The first is achingly detailed, indeed. The second? Look at the building section to the left above the guardrail. See the plain-as-day diamond pattern caused by texture tiling? There's no freaking way those buildings are as detailed as the out-of-game standalones shown in the first part (not that I'm arguing they should be), or such ham-handed tiling wouldn't be visible (though nor would be most of the details due to distance and speed).

To quote from the article:
Yes, it is possible to get all areas of the game that need it up to this level of detail
Which "areas?" The start or finish line of a race, or car selection screen where you're parked? Because obviously this level of detail isn't present in the real-time game world, based on screenshots provided.

Shame on software/hardware companies that use out-of-context and/or pre-rendered images to try to give buyers false impressions. And shame on fanbois who try to pass the same BS on to others. All this does is create impossibly high expectations, which make people feel let down and manipulated, instead of just presenting the damn software as it really is and letting that speak for itself. As gamers, we've got to start extracting a price from companies that use deceptive marketing, and the only effective means of doing so is not buying the product, and letting them know what they did to tick us off. Don't see that happening though.

At any rate, the graphics look great, as do many games on PC, which constantly gets better. There's a place for gaming on both. Trying to rag on either platform is pretty idiotic. As is trying to pretend that ATI's graphics card for Xbox is somehow magically infinitely beyond what they're capable of doing for the PC.

See the plain-as-day diamond pattern caused by texture tiling?

I think the plain-as-day diamond pattern is the chain-link fence in the foreground. Nice try though!

I will be getting an Xbox360 for racing and sports games. PGR3 is looking really good.

Doh! OK, I see the chain link now that you point it out, thanks for the correction Jeff.

Still, don't believe there's any chance that during racing the 360's hardware is loading, storing and processing the kind of geometry and texture detail seen in the stand-alone shots for every building.
