So after posting in another users thread, and creating my own thread trying to reach a solution. I came up with this...

Where do you enter the WEP key? I'm using the belkin wireless game router for my 360 and I'm having the same problem. There are a few open networks around me and it always connects to those which gives me a crappy live connection. I tried to enter my IP and everything else manually but that didn't help. I haven't been able to enter the WEP key since I don't know how. :Q
From my answer in your thread
On the 360, go to the system tab, select network settings, select edit settings, and it will provide you with basic and additional settings tabs. To get it on a secure WPA or WEP connection, you should just need to use the third box under the basic settings tab where it has wireless mode listed. choose it and it'll provide the SSID list, choose your's and enter the key, then choose test media and it should be good to go
That is all I have had to do.

I have tried doing this. The problem is that when I try to go to the edit setting and edit the wireless mode. The wireless option is "whited out." It won't allow me to select that as an option. Thus, not allowing me to be able to select my network and enter my network key. I don't know how to make this an option though. I have tried restoring the network settings and that did nothing.

If it helps, I have the Belking Wireless Game router that looks like This except its white.

Any ideas how I can make it an option to select my network so I can play on my secured network? Right now the adapter just connect to any network that is open around me.

Thanks 🙂

As explained above when I go to the settings tab to enter that stuff in its "whited out" it won't allow me to click on it and search and enter the key in so I can connect to my secure network. Has anyone had this sort of trouble before? I have no idea how I can make it so the option is accessible so that it will allow me to enter the needed info to connect.

Thanks for any help.

you need to disable it on your access point and probably your gaming adapter as well. Post your difficulties in networking.

Or you can rely on plug and play of your gaming adapter to configure your 360 for you. There are so many variables that need to be in place for this to work that only a full explanation of your SOHO router, your gaming adapter and security used can lead to more assistance.

Note that that gaming adapter only supports WEP (like a lot of them) so if you're not using WEP on your router it will never work. Also make sure your router is set to broadcast SSID as NOT doing so causes incompatibility problems with some devices. Always broadcast the SSID.

I made a thread in networking and have had not response as of now. So I was wondering? Do I need to make these changes to my internet router connected to my modem or do I need to make changes to the game router? Or both?

Any ideas on what I need to do to get up and running?

Thanks 🙂

So you're using a wireless game adapter... that's why you can't enter the settings on the 360 dash. You need to connect the adapter to your PC (or maybe even your router) and then make the changes directly in the game adapter. It should have come with instructions on how to do this.

Thats the weird part, when I tried doing this the IP test failed when I tested the XBL connection or it wouldn't connect to live at all.

Have you tried accessing it through its web interface, the default I.P. is 192.168.2.225. You can use the F5D7330 Infrastructure Setup Guide in pdf format from Belkin if you don't have it on the install CD. If you do have the CD, you can set it up through your computer using the install CD or web interface.

First step after you've done the obvious is disable all security and make sure you broadcast the SSID and see if it works. Not receiving an IP address is almost always an encryption mismatch between the AP and the client.

No, I'm not using the Microsoft wireless 360 adapter. I am using the belkin wireless gaming adapter. I don't know as much about networking and settings as it seems some of you guys do, right now I have both settings pages pulled up for the gaming adapter that DAPUNISHER mentioned and I also have my network page up, I am looking at both settings pages. SPIDEY07, I have it checked to broadcast the SSID from my network.

If there is anything else I should be doing please let me know. The odd thing is on the gaming adapters settings it says that the SSID is my networks name, so I don't know why I am having issues.

EDIT: So right after I posted this I locked my network again, as soon as I locked my network I can't get to the web interface of the gaming adapter at 192.168.2.225. firefox keeps saying that it times out. ugh.

reset your gaming adapter to factory default and specifically follow the instructions. I wish I could help more my but specialty is networking and wireless and not gaming adapters. Just get a buffalo router and use it as a workgroup bridge. Any headaches will go away and you will have a much higher performance wifi connection anyway.
