Your choice, you want to save $150 or not? I mean you can probably return it to EB if you dont open the stuff, or if the supply is limited of these on launch, selling it on ebay for a profit might work.

BTW, am I reading this right? Can you only play multiplayer games online with the xbox live GOLD premium membership? Cause thats whacked.

Reminds me of why I dont like consoles.

Pointless. EBgames.com forces unfair bundles, but Electronic Boutique the store just let's you buy the bare system. Buying online is truly pointless if it only serves to force you to buy stuff you don't really need.

That's what I was talking about. I would not be able to afford one if I was forced to buy it in bundles in retail stores. Online stores are ripping people off.

From IGN:

August 31, 2005 - Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox 360 as late as Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving, with software potentially hitting shelves earlier that week, sources from three US retailers told IGN today.

The three retail chains, all of whom independently pointed to Friday, November 25, as the hardware launch day, received email describing launch data late Monday. Launch day games have been re-assigned from early November to Monday, November 22, as potential first day ship dates. When contacted, Microsoft would not confirm or deny the information. In previous official announcements, Microsoft has said Xbox 360 will vaguely launch this fall.

Why the late date? Microsoft is hoping to give developers as much time as possible to finish and polish their games while simultaneously shipping their concave new box during the most active day in North America. Additionally, independent sources have told IGN that final dev kits haven't replaced the mid-summer beta kits, which has added to developers' frustrations.

Game developers, analysts, and retailers have all been unofficially told by Microsoft that November is the launch month, but even as late as today, when IGN phoned a handful of teams, they were still uncertain of a concrete date. Retailers have thus far provided shifting and often conflicting information, but rarely do their dates or numbers match up as evenly as this data.

Is that too late for Microsoft? Hardly. In the current generation, the PS2 was the earliest to launch on October 26, 2000, while Nintendo and Microsoft launched their systems on Sunday November 18, and Thursday November 15, respectively.

We'll have more on the Xbox 360 launch soon.

Im waiting for 3 things on X-box 360 before I commit to getting one.

1- MOUSE SUPPORT
without it FPS will be lame especially since they are going to be plugging Halo 3 when the PS3 releases. PS3 is getting a mouse and keyboard. It will be lame if the XBOX 360 doesnt.

2- HIGH DEFINITION MOVIE SUPPORT
weather it be in the form of a HD-DVD drive or streaming from MCE it needs to do this in one form or another. PS3 will be Blue Ray and I like evolution.

3- FULL SYSTEM TEST RESULTS
Will it truely play my XBOX 1 titles and whats truely involved with Xbox live subscriptions. I take PS3 with a grain of salt because they always use pre rendered stuff instead of actual game play.

While these questions have been partially answered I am waiting for compelete system reviews before I jump on board. Granted I love my X-box 1 but if they repeat the same mistakes without a mouse and non evolution of HD movies I will stay with PC's and consider the PS3 instead.

I think some people seeing this are thinking its just the console for that much.
No, it includes some other things like a 1 year xbox live Gold subscription and two games of your choice, etc etc. So its on top of that $400 (I think that was the price) bundle that MS announced.
