I bought a 360 around April and had no issues with at all until recently with my controller. I've eliminated the batteries as the culprit. In some games, such as Madden, in between plays, the 4 indicator icons on the controller will go around in a circle, but I won't lose the connection. Now, the controller will occasionally disconnect in Madden (1-2 times a game). However, some games are completely unplayable. Gears of War, the controller disconnects every 10 seconds. Is there any recourse I can take? I guess I need to buy a new controller to test and see if it's a problem with the system or the controller.

Anyone had a similar experience and if so, what was the problem/solution?

Sounds like a defective controller, but you can't know without another controller to test with.

I realize you said you eliminated batteries...but I had this problem with Lost Odyssey, it had so much rumble that my generic cheap-o batteries gave me the middle finger and disconnected every 5 seconds.

do they disconnect when there should be rumble? try using DIFFERENT batteries. or a battery pack. or if you have done all that, ignore my post. :)

Do you have any other 2.4 Ghz sources around the xbox or the controller? WiFi or cordless phones?

Also try alkaline batteries.
