Oh momma, PLEASE come to Canada too. I'm sure it would have a better selection than Netflix, no?

I am wondering what all it will have in the instant stuff. If it has newer movies then I will probably shut off my netflix and go with them since I have three different red box kiosks in my area.

I am sure its streaming selection will be hilariously terrible. No chance in hell its streaming content matches the physical on new releases so chances are best that it is streaming like amazon (read: poor selection) along with the physical releases.

The problem is redbox's selection is so poor and its content updated so infrequently (each week but not many movies each week) that I would find it quite impossible to watch 4 movies a month with it.

Because the Red Box kiosks near us have movies from the last three years, unlike streaming Netflix, so its got that going for it.
I subscribe to Netflix for the tv shows I haven't seen, but the movie selection is miserable, so anything would be an upgrade.

We'll have to wait to see what the streaming selection is like, but at $8 a month with $4 worth of disc rentals, I expect it to be terrible.

The only reason it might be not-so-terrible at first is if they decide to accept massive losses on buying content for a while to increase market share.

The content creators (a) charge too much for $4 to buy much content and (b) don't license most new content except as individual rentals or purchases.

I have beta access to it, but it's only free for one month, and I've heard that the selection isn't very good.

It all comes down to what section the streaming will have. I'm guessing it will suck but I hope I'm wrong.

can't wait to hear all the crying about how you have to have xbox live in order to use it!

You mean like this:

For the exact reason I don't have Netflix on my Xbox, I won't have Redbox on my Xbox either - because having to pay for Live is a joke.

Except that with Netflix, I have my choice of devices that have absolutely no additional per-month subscription cost on top of Netflix's cost that I can use?

But I don't have Netflix for completely different reasons, like trying to double my cost of service back when they decided to "split" DVD and Streaming from each other.

And yes, paying for Live in order to use other for-pay subscription features on top of it is indeed a joke. Just goes to show how gullible the average consumer is these days.

The rentals you get from the Rebox kiosk are not going to be available for streaming. You wouldn't need the actual Redbox rentals if they did. They're actually removing the best part about Netflix (the TV shows like you say), and leaving the odd selection of old, cult, or crappy movies left.

Unless you actually want Live for a superior console online gaming service. I have no issues' paying for it since you can always get a deal. If i was however just using it for netflix i would not pay for it. I use my Smart TV app for streaming it anyways.

if you're paying for live just for netflix, you're doing it wrong.

The pay for Live thing is why I don't own an xbox. Microsoft made their choice, I made mine.

I own one, but I won't pay for live, either, and next gen it will factor into decision. A lot of people are ok with the $50/year. I'm just not one of them, we could argue all night back and forth but homey just doesn't play that.

$35 is still $35 too much.

If that's what you think, fine. But let's not kid ourselves, it's $3.35 a month. As a gaming service, it is markedly and quanitifiably better than PSN for gaming.

Whether that's worth the whopping $3 a month or not to whomever is a personal choice, but let's not kid ourselves and pretend all things are equal and one just costs more; they're not.

Says the guy who splits up one incoherent post into 5 separate ones, and every post is like a Haiku by a Down Syndrome sufferer.

Seriously, can someone clue me in as to why every single post this guy makes are spelled and formatted like a drunken late night text from a high school girl?
