Xbox 360 warranty/XBL questiosn

Alright, I'm just full of 360 questions. Guess that happens before any purchase though.

First, if I buy an Xbox 360 new in box from someone second hand, will it still be under warranty? When does the warranty start?

Second, if I do buy it this way can I get the 2 year extended warranty or do I have to do that in store? If so, how much does it cost?

And third, do new 360's come with a free trial of XBL? I'd love to get it but dunno if I'll be able to connect ATM.

90 day warranty, starts from when they bought it from the store. If they haven't registered it you can probably treat it as a gift, be sure to get the store receipt from them (and make sure they haven't lost it before paying them).

Supposedly only 14 days from their purchase date to get the extended warranty but I've also heard they usually let people get it within the 90.

What Dave said. Additionally, I would try getting the receipt from whoever it is you are buying the 360 from.

360's come with the free Live Silver plan. Basically, you can do everything but play games online against other people. Some games come with 3-month free trials of Live Gold.

Hrm...who do you contact about the extended warranty?

Microsoft Customer Support or the store the 360 was purchased from.

Hrm...so I guess it's a gamble. It'd be NIB (unopened) so hopefully the store wouldn't have registered it. I'm just skeert of dropping my money down and in 2 or 3 months getting 3 red lights...the warranty would be comforting.

It might be worth the risk if the price is low enough.

Dell has had 15% deals, you can get the Pro from them for $340-360. Amazon is giving Burnout Revenge with it for $400, and GameStop's online store has a bundle with COD2 and a 1-year warranty for $400.

Dell still have a 15% off deal?

*edit* nvm, Dell would charge almost $40 in taxes to get it to meh 🙁

Keep an eye out on Overstock.com for a deal. Also, if you feel like driving over to Marietta, GA from Birmingham you can get a Premium 360 at Microcenter for $200 after two $100 rebates (one of them by applying for a Microcenter Credit Card).

Actually you can extend the warranty as long as the Xbox is still under a warranty. I called after owning mine for almost 2 months and bought the 1 year warranty. She said I could extend it even longer as long as I did so while it was still covered.

I like the store warranty idea better if you can do it that way rather than mailing off your 360 and waiting.. I bought mine at costco so I can return it if necessary 🙂
