Yeah, it's unhackable until someone posts exactly how to circumvent/hack whatever protection scheme on /.'s front page.

and that's what we're all waiting for 😉

It's like microsoft releasing Vista and saying "There are no bugs, holes, security threats, updates needs, or anything that can get past our built in firewall in this OS!"

my way of thinking is this.... its an uneducated educated guess...

95% (and im being generous) of the population plays games they buy dont use a mod chip probably dont even know what a mod chip is... thats microsoft's life right there

the 5% who just know what a mod chip theres a good amount that are ... too scared to do it, are afraid they will breka their xbox, want to use xbox live (they dont realize or can't figure out xbconnect can play backups online)... so a very tiny portion of the community has backups, plays backups .... i dont think microsoft really cares as much as they seem they do about security...

this was written in stream of consciousness so if it makes no sense, my bust

Did anyone bother reading the article?

But Mr Satchell admitted no system was fool-proof and that, with enough time and dedication, the security on the Xbox 360 would be broken.

"There're some really bright people in the world with some really expensive hardware," he said.

didn't they make a movie about ant overlord... minus the hacking... but with more slashing? think it was called "them" or "they" or "it" or something vague like that

MS' last security measure with Windows Genuine Advantage for windows updates was broken within 24 hours by pasting 1 line of code into your browser. Are we talking about the same company here ? 😀

Well, to be fair, it took them a while to hack the original Xbox.

so what's the percentage of xbox owners that actually use a mod chip? My friend says "It has to be like at least 30-40%"

I told him that's impossible, but he's pretty adamant on that figure...

I'd say less than that too. You'd have to be a techie and if not you'd have to be good enough to find someone to do it for you. I don't have that kind of confidence in the common kid-gamer who just had mommy or daddy buy them the latest game console.

My question is, can the Xbox360 be modded to play Gamecube games in the future? They both use IBM cores and they both use ATI graphics processors as well. Seems logical that an emulator could be made to run on Xbox360 should it be cracked.
