Did anyone bother reading the xbox360 article?

But Mr Satchell admitted no system was fool-proof and that, with enough time and dedication, the security on the Xbox 360 would be broken.

"There're some really bright people in the world with some really expensive hardware," he said.

i thought the $400 xbox also came with a wireless controller? if it was $100 for just the 20gb drive... thats fuggin' weak.

I thought it also added the ability to play original Xbox games. That's worth $100 to me.

$400 360 has a wireless controller, headset, the 20gb drive (this is why you can play original games, they need the hdd for cache data), DVD remote, and something else or two. But still to me, those are all worthless. Wired controller works just as well, hell they made the Xbox controller cables nice and long and breakaway, no need for wireless. The headset is just not something I use on a console or in PC gaming, and the DVD remote... please, I think the controller works JUST fine for starting and stopping a friggin' DVD movie.

It WILL be hacked, but there's a good chance that it won't be as easy to do as with the Xbox. My roommate never even soldered before (and I sux0r at it, so I wasn't gonna try), and in about 1 or 2 hours he installed an Xecuter 3.0 into his Xbox v1.6. He even hosed his LPC rebuild but he said it was crap anyway and just soldered them all without the LPC board. However, whether you need to be a EE and/or highly skilled to mod out the 360, that is to be seen...

ps3 will sell even more units then

if its hackable i would think more people wuold buy it, making it better than just a game console...where as the ps3 will be just a game console, geeks need more than just a game console...

Whats so good about a ps3? Playing games and watching blue ray videos or dvd? Think about what one can do with linux on an xbox.....maby use it as a video encoding station or server..plus a variety of other fun things people will surely try.

i won't be typing from xp for long. as soon as i figure out why windows doens't rocognize SUSE in dual-boot, i'm getting the ATI drivers for linux and awaaaaay i go

this reminds me of when i read a pcmag article about windows vista where they said "Windows Vista: this time, its secure for sure."

Good luck with ati's linux drivers 😛

The main thing that the x360 has in terms of stopping modding that I have been informed about is that the bios is light sensetive and if the box is opened (supposedly sealed enough that a hacksaw is needed to actually open it) the bios and other flashable chips will be wiped clean.

😕

The more I think about this, the angrier I get. I buy their product, and I want to use it as a doorstop or a baby monitor, its none of their damned business! Once money and hardware changes hands, what the consumers do with the product is not the concern of the manufacturer! Its a damned good thing the auto-industry doesnt take this approach with bike/auto customizers. :disgust:

Was the Gamecube ever hacked? Doesnt the little disc spin counterclockwise then clockwise? Has there ever been a hack?
