Can the Xbox only store content locally? Or can it store on a remote PC if used as a Media Center Extender? Not sure how stiff the trusted content/copy protection scheme is.

If possible, to store elsewhere that would address the HD size issue.

Can only store downloaded content locally. Would be nice if they allowed external storage but I'm sure someone would have that cracked in 24 hours....which is why MS won't allow it.

Microsoft should be able to upgrade the HD storage space and keep the units at the same price. Or at least offer an upgrade to plug in as the main drive. Have anyone figured out a way to plug a larger HD into the shell that the 20GB drive comes in yet??

It hasn't been a matter of just plugging in a larger HDD but getting another HDD setup with the correct format, file structure, etc.

That's not too bad really. Depends on your situation. I still have plenty of space on my HDD for an HD movie, maybe two. I don't have a BR or HD-DVD yet, so this is a good way get access to HD movies until a dual format player hits the market at a reasonable price. The 24 hour rental period is no biggie. That just applies after you start watching it. You can store it for up to 14 days before watching it. I don't think I've ever in my life rented a movie, started watching it, stopped for some reason, and came back to finish it more than a day later. I do wish that it was a dollar or so cheaper though. $6 seems a tad high. I'll try some out though. What I really hope they do is start offering HD movies rentals before the DVDs/BRs hit the streets. That would be a nice bonus and likely generate a lot of business.

My main hangup is the 24 hour rental period. I do enjoy watching a movie twice many times. If they had extended it to a 48 hour or 72 hour period I would think I'd be getting good value for my money.

I see... I usually just watch a rental once. It would be nice if they extended the time. They should at least make it as long as you would have at typical B&M rental store. So about 3 days would be great.

That movie list is horrible. I was ready to start watching $6 HD movies as opposed to almost $5 DVD rentals but if I can't get the new releases then what is the point? Oh well.

It's a start. They're obviously going to have to continually add content (especially new releases) frequently for it to be worthwhile.
