are the "old" xbox 360 controllers compatible with the new slim model? also, i download hd movies some times - something like 20gb i think, but i'd rather not spring for the 250gb model - aside from movies i don't store anything on the box. can i use a usb thumb drive or external usb hd for downloading movies?

Yes, the old controllers are identical to the new ones in function, the Slim controllers are just a different color.

The "Arcade" model has 4GB of built in memory and supports USB flash drives up to 16GB, so it may not be enough to hold said movies.

Yeah they will work with the slim.

USB attached storage is limited to a max of 16 GB.

the controllers are forward compatible. No way would microsoft be stupid enough to make them not compatible. they still have tons of "older" accessories out there.

the 360 supports up to 32 gigs (2x 16gig devices)

it should act as if they are hard drives. you can easily save games, movies or whatever you want to them.

also you can only have 16 gigs per device. If you connect a 500 gig external usb drive. you still only get 16 gigs.

Not entirely true, you can use two 16 GB flash devices, for a max of 32 GB.

edit: oops, did not see that herkulease already addressed this.

I think it's probably a good idea. If you decided you needed the drive later the 250GB drive as a stand alone upgrade is like $140...ridiculous.

Do they offer a hard drive accessory for the slim arcade model?

Yes, that's what I'm talking about, it's $140 or so while buying the version with the HDD included is only $100 more.

OK, for some reason I thought they only offered the hard drive for the non-slim 360. I did not know they offered one for the slim.

They just announced it a week or so ago. It may not be out yet but it is coming for sure.
