xbox 360 setup question...

I have one digital audio input left on my onkyo, it is an older one, but sounds great. I have the newer xbox 360 with HDMI. I have one HDMI port left on my samsung LCD TV. Does the 360 have just a straight optical out for the sound if I use the HDMI for the Video to the TV? The optical out on the TV, which I just learned, converts to 2 channel stereo...bleh.

You're not able to use both the HDMI and the optical without a rather expensive adapter... however if you google it there are hardware hacks to get around this.

Just take the plastic off your component cables, then you can use the optical off that and hdmi.

I think it does. But he didn't say he has an Elite.

My Elite does have the adapter - it has a legacy RCA composite L/R jacks next to optical.

thanks guys. it is not an elite. I saw how the plastic shroud can be removed. Good saves me some cashola.

happy gaming. I got guitar hero iii wireless, Gears of War, Bioshock, the Darkness, Surfs Up, Pinata Platinum, FOrza and the Super Heroes game that came with it. Hopefully those will keep them busy for a bit.

how old are your kids? Gears of War, Bioshock, and the Darkness might not be for them.
