I sent my XBOX 360 in for repair on the 17th of November.. it got there on the 23rd.. and now I just checked the same shipping on it and the site and it says "Device being shipped back to customer" and it shows its being shipped to my house.. it was RROD.. could they be done fixing it or maybe they didnt get all the information and are sending it back?

Anybody get a 360 back this fast?

they fixed my 360 and had it for a total of about 30 hours. and they didn't send me a new one, it was my same exact system fixed.

Incorrect. Totally incorrect. They got your system, opened the case, gutted and replaced the electronics***, and hopefully are coherent enough to keep your serial numbered case queued up in alignment with your shipping address. Just because the serial number sticker is the same does not mean that anything else is your "exact system".

To me, my system is not the serial number sticker, but the electronics hidden within the case. But if you have some cute butterfly stickers on your outer case, I can understand why you would want the exact same case back.

But this is a set up from last year, when you did not even get back the right serial number, and you had to deregister and reregister and still deal with a screwed up Live account.

EDIT:
*** The replacement parts may or may not be refurbs (usually are). It depends on what the work order says to replace and what parts on queued to be used. Was your work order for a DVD replacement, or for a RROD motherboard replacement, or for a power brick replacement?

Unless the crack messes up the mounting hole alignment, then yes, you are now SUPPOSED to get back the same case, since it is what your serial number sticker is stuck for eternity (a comment about the quality of the glue, not the quality of the case or any other hidden meaning). You MAC number will change assuming you get a new motherboard, and are not refurbing stictly for a defective optical drive.

When mine RROD'd a long time ago I got an entirely new unit w/ a new S/N, although it sounds like they have changed that procedure by now. I believe they have to flash the new board the put in too because I believe the console is electronically aware of it's S/N.

Just got mine back a few hrs ago, about 10 biz day from drop off to getting it back. Probably 4-5 days just on the road so not bad. The manu date is 11/06/07 and it is in mint condition, but still the older model with the copper heatsink visible through the holes when the flashlight hits it. So I can't say if it is new or a refurb, but it certainly doesn't seem to be the one I sent.

I am going to try and send mine in tonight for the drive ( endless disc read errors getting progressively worse). I am within my 3 yr RROD warranty, but out of my regular 1 year so I think I am screwed. Im gonna call them anyway and see what my options are.

Got mine back today and it came with a free month of XBL Gold, which was nice. Happy with Microsoft's service here.
