Xbox 360 problem.

So I was playing COD4 tonight and the video started messing up. I was getting green and purple tinting throughout the picture. I switched to a different input (TV) and the picture was fine and thus was able to rule out the television as being the culprit of the problem. Next thing I did was check the connections of the cable. I checked the connection and replugged every cable just to ensure a tight and snug fit. So I booted up the 360... a blank black picture, but with audio. This is not good.

I searched on the net and it seems like a failing GPU was the most probable cause. Also, this seems to be a rampant problem as well. Now this sounds plausible since most RROD errors stem from a failing GPU.

What sucks is that this is worse than a RROD as I am no longer under warranty for this kind of problem. I would be totally covered if this was a RROD. This console has been chugging along fine since Sept. 06, albeit the occassional disc read errors. Let's not mention that GTA4 is about to come out in less than two weeks.

I purchased this console from Overstock.com with a protection plan so I'm covered by that. Hopefully the return/warranty process will be painfree and quick.

Hopefully it will be quick and easy for you to get a replacement console. This is one of the few types of purchases that I prefer to get from a B&M store and get an extended warranty to go with it. Purchased my original 360, it RRODd after about a year and a half but since it was still covered by the extended warranty I was able to simply walk into the store, swap units, keep my hard drive and bring it home.
