Been using regular rechargables on my wireless controller. Bought the play and charge kit lastnight. Plugged it in, light went red, then green in about half an hour. Turned system off, cooked and ate dinner, came back to system and turned it on. I notice no LED on the charge cable, controller works fine plugged into charge cable to usb and without cable. BUT, shouldnt there be a light on the LED on the charge cable? The "instruction" sheet doesnt say much. MS website says even less. Anyone know if the light is supposed to stay on or does it turn off when fully charged.

The light on mine never comes on, and it works just fine. I was curious about it not coming on as well, but it works, so I don't care much.

Hmmm... not sure. I've seen it turn from red to green while playing and charging at the same time, but I don't think I've ever noticed what it does when turning the system on with the cable still attached and the controller fully charged. Like you I would at least expect to see the green light, but can't say for sure.

The wireless headset uses a similar method to recharge (plug into any powered USB port). When its charging though, the lights on the microphone light up sequentially, turn off, then repeat. When its done, they just all flash every couple seconds. Which I realize doesn't help you, but at least it provides an indicator of when its fully charged.

Perhaps the P&C Kit only lights up when its actively charging? I decided recently against the P&C kit, and went with the quick charge kit + extra battery pack.

Thanks for all the replies. I will test it heavily on the battery for the next couple of days. The weird thing is it was on, red first then green. When I shut down the console it never lit up again. But as you guys state, yours doesnt light up either. :) I will see if it does indeed charge and if it does I will chalk it up to MS being wrong in their documentation yet again. If it doesnt charge, back to BB it goes.

For mine, the light is always on when it is plugged into a USB port - it is either red when charging or green when full. I've never had it turn green mid-use, though I generally don't plug it in until it's near-dead.

Well, been playing with the rechargable battery pack and usb charge cable connected. Light not coming on at all and when I use the cable the controllers 4 lights go around in circles, all flash at the same time and occasionally will only have #1 light on. When the cable is plugged in I get no force feedback from the controller, if I remove the battery pack from the controller and just use the cable force feedback works. Right now I have it connected to a charger that also has a usb connector for charging usb devices and it is doint the same thing, 4 lights flashing, then spinning around like its looking to connect, then back to flashing. This is weird and sucks. I am going to take back to BB today.

Also, I connected it to my PC at work and it has installed drivers for it. No light again. Can the PC charge this thing? If I pull the cable I hear it disconnect.

Check out the quick charge kit instead. Sure, you cant charge the batteries via USB, but its pretty slick and seems to work very well for me.

You can charge the controller via USB on a computer. I have mine hooked up to my HTPC and I found it works a lot better than hooking it up to the 360 (since the PC is always on).

Does your cable light light up?

I  Quick Charge Kit, but really I would have saved a lot of money if I just used my existing AA rechargeable batteries. But at least with the quick charge kit and 2 batteries, I know I'll NEVER have to plug my controller in.

Took the play and charge kit back and got the quick charge. Much better imo. Thanks all! :)
