Xbox 360 play & charge kit question

So i got this play and charge kit for my wireless controllers. I wondered if i could plug it into my pc and use the controller in pc games like my ms sidewinder. It recognises it fine but cant install it due to lack of a driver it seems. I installed the XBOX360Eng.exe thing that your supposed to install to get the controllers working but it dosent work.

Can it actually work with a wireless controller & play & charge kit? Or do i need a proper wired controller?
