Xbox 360 or Xbox One

I am wondering if I should continue to invest in the Xbox 360 (500GB HDD, new games like Madden 15, GTA 5, etc.) or just invest in the Xbox One. Any suggestions?

At this point, I would just go with the One, if both are on the table. It'll cost more now, but the multi-platforms will be there as well, and you will get some great exclusives like Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, and both Forza series. The price of the One has dropped low enough to not be a major cost over the 360 (that high-end model you mention), so I would just go ahead and future-proof myself for things like the new Halo and Gears titles, and the upcoming franchises like Dying Light, The Division, and Quantum Break.

Only reason to get a 360 today is if you can't afford a One imo. One is much better, if you can afford it it is a no brainer.

If you mean you already have the 360, I would keep it.

You can probably reuse the 500GB for storage somewhere else or sell it with the 360 if you decide to sell it after you upgrade eventually.

Try to get the games lightly used.

Yes I currently have a 360. I'm thinking of buying GTA 5 and Madden 15

GTA V is beautiful and runs great on XBox 360. I can't imagine buying XBox One over PS4 if you're getting a new console though. Microsoft really screwed the pooch with the Kinect crap and trying to make XBox One a mainstream media center instead of a gaming machine.

I certainly wouldn't get rid of your 360. I wouldn't be buying new games for it either, since they will be better on the next gen systems. However, might be a good opportunity to go back and pick up some gems you may have missed.

I cant agree with you more!! I regret buying my xbox one.. It is like its just a xbox 360 with upgraded resolutions. The graphics are not any better yet and every game you can get for the xbox one you can get for the xbox 360 and they all look the same just with a slightly lessened resolutions. If I could go back and do it all over again I would have gotten a PS4 and I am pretty anti sony so thats saying alot..If you do buy a Xbox one dont bother getting the one with a kinect cause the Kinect is a huge piece of crap and doesnt listen for crap either.

Depends on the games you want to play... If there are more exclusives on one console that interest you more than the other console, then all the "Kinect crap" and "media center" stuff doesn't matter.

It's all about the games.™

No kidding. If you are truly saying that the graphics difference between the One and the 360 is insignificant, yet the difference between the PS4 and One is significant... You are completely full of crap.

Your full of crap kid I dont know who the hell you think your talking to with name calling but you better watch your self.. I never said there was a huge difference in graphics between XBOX One and PS4.I said If I could do it over I would have gotten a PS4 and there is more of a huge difference between XBOX 360 and PS4 then there is between Xbox 360 and Xbox One graphics wise.Sorry to say but Xbox One cant do 1080p at 60PFS on all games like Ps4 can!!

I have to reluctantly agree with you, being a longtime 360 user myself, that for existing 360 users, ps4 might be a better buy since if nothing else, atleast they can now play exclusive games from both consoles on 360 and ps4

There's no reason to buy a One or a PS4 right now unless there's a game you can't wait to play, right now, that you can get, right now.

So, wait... Does resolution matter or doesn't it? Or just in the case of the PS4? (P.S. Not all games on the PS4 are "1080p at 60PFS"... And actually, only about half of the games are.)

Truth is... Both consoles are great. It just depends on the games you want to play. If you want to play a great racing or fighting game today, Insomniac's latest masterpiece, or Halo, a PS4 will do you no good. Conversely, if you want to play a great baseball game now, or Uncharted next year, a One will leave you wanting more.

It's all about the games.™

Oh, I'm sorry, sir. You're right, I didn't know whom I thought I was talking to. But from now on, I'll be sure to watch myself, sir.

Just curious why you think they "screwed the pooch?" Have you used all the media functions? From my experience it works really well to have your cable come through the one and fast switch from games to TV etc. And the kinect is far superior to the last gen kinect available for the 360. How is the PS4 better in those areas? (Yes I know it technically runs games "better.")

Just my opinion but the kinect is amazing. Do you honestly think the the PS4 camera is better?

If you're wanting GTA 5, I would get the xbox one as I'm sure there will be some sort of GTA 5 bundle. The one version looks really really impressive from what I've seen. There's literally no comparison between it and the 360 version.

The problem is that Microsoft put a bunch of money into the Kinect, instead of better gaming hardware. They then forced the $100 markup on to customers, while also telling them that it HAD to be plugged in (which some just didn't like, myself included). It's not to say that the Kinect itself is bad, or a bad idea, but the way they sacrificed superior gaming hardware and jacked up the console's price--that whole ordeal is why the One can't outsell the PS4 at a lower price point.

So, Microsoft screwed up because they oversold the peripheral, mostly because they overestimated the percentage of people who wanted the Kinect and media features, while also overestimating how much people would pay for those luxury things.

Thank you. That's a very fair statement.

There was no reason MS couldn't have matched the PS4 hardware and offered Kinect for $500 at launch. No reason whatsoever.

Wasn't it said that Sony was only expecting to get enough GDDR5 RAM to put 4 GB in each console, but they ended up getting more than expected? If that's to be believed (I've heard it said, though never verified), then there's a real question as to whether there was enough GDDR5 supply for Microsoft to have been able to match Sony's RAM offerings. I'm somewhat surprised they didn't have parity on the GPU, but maybe they simply underestimated their needs for games, especially when the Kinect started eating resources.

They could have done it on the GPU side, and maybe on the RAM side, but I'm sure that they weren't dying to eat the extra money and go into the generation with another console losing money on sales.

I don't know about that. Before the console was announced the rumors said 8GB if I remember right. They really did start out on the wrong foot though.

Lots of Black Friday deals for the Xbone. I finally grabbed one, the AC bundle, for 350$ and its a nice step up over the 360 and I'm really liking the media options.
