Well, one day I was playing Rock Band 2 and all of the sudden my screen got fuzzy. I reset my console and then there was no video. Called 1-800-4-MYXBOX and they told me they would repair it, since it was out of warrenty, for a 200$! I said no thanks guys, and quickly set to looking up do-it-yourself fix it guides. I found many on no video and thought, hey, what the hell, I'll try it out. Pried open the Xbox and replaced the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU. Put it all back together, then turned it on. Oops, 3 red rings! I assume its the screws being too tight or not tight enough? I hope? Anyone do this and get this result, and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks!

It sounds like he did do the X-clamp removal as he's talking about the replacement bolts.

Did you make sure to purposely "cook" your XBOX after replacing the X-clamps? You're supposed to let it overheat for ~2 minutes and then let it cool down. Based on what I've seen, don't skip the cool down portion, as I was a good boy and let my 360 cool down after replacing the clamps, but I did not do this for my mother's 360... and you can guess which one is still working.

Watch, next time I go to turn it on, it'll red ring on me again :p.
