Xbox 360 on LCD...stupid question

I have set the resolution in the dashboard to 1280x1024 (my monitors limit) but the games, well Dead Rising and PGR 3, play in letterbox mode. Should I just assume it's 720p? I mean it looks good but I just want to make sure.

Just change the resolution to 1280x720. Let us know how that works out.
