Xbox 360: Multiple Consoles, Physical HD Transfer, and Game Installation Problem

I have two 360s (launch w/20GB HD and a MW2 w/250GB HD)and physically transfer my hard drives for my gamertag and saves. I have all my games installed on the 250GB and it appears that when I move the 250GB to the launch console, the launch console doesn't recognize the game install and the continuously spins the DVD during gameplay. Has anyone encountered this? If so, any remedies? Thanks!

I believe the install is tied to 360 and the hard drive. So when one or the other is missing it's not going to work the way you expect.

Similar thing happened to me with Netflix. I would swap hard drives around but it would screw up my Netflix authentication whenever I did. I would then have to re-authenticate my 360 through Netflix. The fix was ultimately to just use a memory card instead of swapping HDDs.

You could try putting the 250GB HDD on the older console and re-installing the game. Maybe it'll create a separate install that will be used when those two are together.

I had that exact issue when I swapped mine onto a new console. Only way around it was to reinstall the game, and it would still take its 10 minutes to do the install, installing it right over top. It's too bad it couldn't just quickly update the DRM or whatever is happening.
