Xbox 360 Memory Card Question

Basically, I've downloaded about 20 tracks of Rock Band DLC so far and would like to play them on friends' consoles when I'm there. I've never even tried the "Recover Your Gamertag" option on their systems because I recall others in this forum say it takes about 5-10 minutes to bring it up there and then 5-10 minutes to bring it back on my own console.

I suppose I'm just impatient, but if my Xbox Live Gold gamertag can easily co-exist on my console and a memory card for me to easily bring up on friends' consoles where I can one-time download my content and use whenever my memory card is there without having to go through an arduous process, I'll drop the $$$ for it.

Thanks for the info.

I've never used either method, but I don't think that the "recover" option is meant for frequent use to port your account between Xboxes. In fact, I think it is generally a bad idea. By doing so you may have to re-download any content that was tied to that account, and from then on be signed into XBL to use it. You also may lose achievements.

MS doesn't want accounts to exist in more than one place, so the memory card method essentially allows you to move your gamertag from one Xbox to the next.

EDIT: As for the DLC, I think you will only need to download it the one time, and of course you'll only be able to use it when signed in with your GT.

Yeah, as long as you put your gamertag on a memory card and take that over to a friend's house, you can download and use any DLC while signed into your gamertag without doing the "Recover Your Gamertag".

Thanks, sounds good. Can the gamertag be stored (not actively being used) on the memory card and the console at the same time? I'd prefer not to have the memory card plugged in my own console every time I want to play.

Nope. One or the other, not both. It is relatively easy to transfer from one to the other though. Especially when compared with the "Recover Gamertag" option.

Yah, basically just like copying files. I got a memory card specifically for what you said, playing games at a friends place with my gamertag... (they're worthless to me otherwise :))

Will those cheapo $9.99 64MB Versions on Ebay house a few Gamer Profiles? I'm looking for something cheap to avoid the Game Tag recovery process my super-duper bestest pal has to go through every time he comes to my place.

I've got a 64 mb one... new you can get them for like $25. All I have is one profile on there and its got quite a bit of room free... I think over 50 mb (the formatting of the card doesn't give you a full 64mb)
