I'm contemplating buying an Xbox 360 and with the news I just saw about Linux being used on the PS3, I was wondering if you can put a normal OS onto the Xbox 360 and surf the web and stuff like that??

Sorry for being lazy lol. Xbox 360 is going upstairs and the PC is downstairs.
Just didn't know if these things could surf the net or not, OS wouldn't really matter cuz all I would be doing is surfing the net with it (the OS).
The PS3 can but I don't wanna wait that long (lol half a month) and its going to be a little pricey for me.
So since you say this can't be done, let me ask, would it be worth it to wait for the PS3 and buy the cheaper model? Or should I just buy the Premium Xbox 360? I don't have a HDTV either.

Honestly though, look at it! It doesn't even look like a gaming console. Have you seen its "controller," and how long will take before people get carple tunnel from playing with those controllers?

From the looks of it they haven't developed a Linux based OS for it yet but one is in progress called Free60. I'll have to see how much money I can pull in for my birthday and that will probably decide what system I get.
As for camping out for the PS3, I don't think it will be a problem. www.ps3-preorder.net has a list of sites that will have them availible at launch. So, if my Wal-mart runs out (doubt it will, town of just over 21k people) I will just order one online.

No, there's lots of people who don't care about gameplay. They tend to hang out in Video and post 3DMark scores though.

You are right, they should redevelop it, make it exactly like the ps3, don't forget it needs 28 processors so that it is annoying for developers. Also you should require that the controller is actually just a ported over ps2 controller, why bother to innovate when this works fine as it is?
Who needs change when we can just throw processing power at the problem of poorly designed games, people like flashy graphics right?

No I'm all for gameplay, graphics don't really matter to me. Heck I have played Delta Force 2 since it came out and only just stopped playing this summer. Talk about bad graphics lol... but its gameplay was superior to anything else that came out. I don't have huge HDTVs or monitors, or a crazy powerful graphics card either. I'm running right now on a FX5200 256mb PCI card lol...I can still play BF2 though!
When I said I like the traditional look I simply meant how the console looks. I also like the older looks of cars too. The 30s models simply had better curves and more flow. Everybody has different opinions on everything, and all I'm doing now is simply voicing mine. No need to flame or get upset.

I have 360 and I've never noticed a web surfing feature, I haven't been inclined to try either because my computer is right next to my tv.

The overheating problem has been fixed, I'm happy with mine. The only reason I'd get PS3 over X360 is because I'm a gradius fan and they're bring a game to that system, not worth $600 though. The X360 will soon be $300 AFAIK, but the graphics look great on the 360, I play my fps on my pc though.
