Xbox 360 holiday bundles

They are shipping with Falcon, but...they didn't shrink the GPU die for it, only the CPU. The revision that shrinks the GPU to 65nm will be the "Jasper" chipset due out August 2008.

you sure the 739's are Zephyrs? I have a 737 thats a Falcon. If the 739's are Zephyrs then I'd say its really hit or miss.

Went back for the 736, no dice

Saw some posts elsewhere that said all 739s were Z's.

Persistence pays off, got my falcon
Arcade, 737, 9/13/07, Cson

5th freaking box, but that's ok. Last safe bet in the 2 stores I went to. Actually works out best. Still have the HDD from my dead Pro. Comp cables were $10. So my $430 store credit from BestBuy on the BPP on the dead pro netted me the falcon arcade, the cables, one game, new 2yr BPP warr, and $30 left over for something else. Plus in the end I got a mem card and pacman too (prolly play this more than forsa anyway, and I'm sure MA sucks.)

The other misses were:

Elite, 936, 9/04/07, FDOU <--someone had a falcon in a pro on this build, so tried it for shizzles
Arcade, 936, 9/something/07, CSON


G/L, its very hit and miss
 
They sell a lot of xbox 360s at my local costcos. What should I been looking for again please? Bundles with lot number 736? Where is that number on the package?
 
I very luckily landed a Falcon from Buy.com. I didn't even care to be honest which is why I got it online (tax free), but I'll take it. 🙂

After going to 3 best buys, frys, and target, i have to add: LATER Lot number / Build Does DOES NOT GUARANTEE FALCON

Ive bought and returned LOT: 734, 736, 741, 742... dates from August to even October 10th that are all zephyr!! (by visual isnpection taht there are 3 coils, and heatsiink w/ copper pipe)

The one Falcon I found is LOT 737, build September 9th(?), from Target.

None of those had the "GO PRO" label on it. Basically, from my experience, its a crap-shoot

So in order to get one Falcon that addresses an issue that is covered by a 3 year warranty, you returned 4 opened Xbox 360s that now can't be sold as new? It's no wonder restocking fees exist.
 
That's a lot of returns just to get a Falcon.
They had the Elite bundle lot 725 at Best Buy today. I'm guessing there is no way that's a falcon.

-Lawlz, if undoing 2 stickers to get a peek at a machine renders it tampered then boo hoo.
-It's not a simple binary difference of an instance of the machine being broken, the newer ones run cooler and quieter all of the time.
-A cheaper open-box machine for buyers content with zephyr = win-win.

People can bring home a 30$ sweater and return it because they dont like the color, but you dont think consumers are entitled to get 100% satisfaction on a 400$ purchase? lawlzzzz!

They can be sold as new. Nothing is opened execpt one sticker on the box that just peels back. You don't even have to take the XBox out of the bag to be able to see the inductors. Ever tap a watermelon to see if its good? I don't want another $400 lemon. That's not unreasonable
 
Bought a Xbox 360 (HDMI) at Walmart last night with lot# 736 and team FDOU.
Won't know for sure if it's a Falcon until I look into the vents on the side.
I plan on rigging an 80mm case fan with a 12volt brick to assist in cooling anyway.
 
Send the Xbox back when it goes up in smoke in a few months and you will get a Falcon 65nm chipset or better yet the 45nm when it comes out. Don't put it in an entertainment center where it can't get air circulation. My son wanted one so I bought it for him for a Christmas gift but I'm going for PS3 after Christmas. You don't trip over cables with a PS3 and the heat issues are minimal.
Blu-Ray inside. Xbox 179.00 extra for HD and more cables to trip over. I have a room full of computers and I really dislike cables. Less cables, more sales.
 
So if I'm just about to send my 360 back for an RROD is there a chance I'd get a falcon back in return?

not likely, Falcon boards will likely not get shipped out until they start getting some in for repair or run out of old board. When you send a system off they will fix it or send you a refurb.
 
Someone on the xbox forums pointed something out and I thought it was a good point so I'd thought I'd toss it out there.

Zephyr boards (3 inductors) could theoretically have the new 65nm CPUs on them. If they have more zephyr boards than 90nm CPUs what's to stop them from sticking the new CPUs on zephyr boards until they run out? We all know a lower power part will fit in a higher power socket.

P.S. I just checked my new premium holiday bundle purchased 11/23 at gamestop.

It's probably a falcon. Only 2 inductors, no heatpipes.

Lot 739 team CSON 203w (not newer 175w) power supply

Check out some of the insider discussion leaks on the cost reduction schedule set by M$. The 65nm GPU has been delayed until at least next year, and the remote possibility of 45nm CPUs and GPUs will also be pushed out at least one additional year. So I hope you are not holding your breath while waiting.
 
Bought a holiday bundle from costco. team fdou. says ZEPHYR right on the sticker. 203w.


Gonna wait until I get my elite from amazon and return it.

Guy at work just got an arcade from there. Falcon, LOT 742 I believe.

Same as my Elite & Arcade, the sticker said 200W supply, but they all had 170W inside and were Falcons.
