xbox 360 with HDMI port here

wanna buy the MS HDMI A/V kit and then get a hdmi f->dvi m adapter to use on a monitor with a DVI-F input

so, will the HDMI signal translate with a simple adapter so the monitor will work?

There shouldn't be any issue with that kind of setup. I've gone from DVI output on a cable box and computer to HDMI input on the TV, and vice-versa. As long as you got the right adapters and they're not busted, you'll be in good shape.

Don't see why that wouldn't work. You'd need to hook the audio up seperately, but the video shouldn't be affected at all by going HDMI->DVI

Apparently, the Xbox 360 will work with a non-HDCP LCD through DVI, but some DRM'd stuff will not work.

This is the case. The OP should note that the PS3 _always_ requires HDCP, no matter what the application.

Even via component which has no HDCP capabilities?

I play my PS3 via 720p component on my LCD Monitor (Which is HDCP supported via DVI)
