Xbox 360 HD?

Hey guys, I am planning on buying an xbox 360, but I dont have a TV of my own. I was wondering if I can run it on my 1680x1050 Acer DVI Monitor? I work at a cabling company and I know I can make an HDMI to DVI cable but I am not sure if the 360 supports 1680x1050. I know it supports 1080i and 720p but what I have is inbetween the two.

The 360 only supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p via HDMI right now. Supposedly, the big fall update on Nov 18th is supposed to change that.

Here is what the 360 supports using the VGA cable.

If you're using the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable to connect your Xbox 360 console to a computer monitor or TV monitor with a VGA connection, you'll have the opportunity to select from a variety of resolutions. They are:

* 640 x 480
* 848 x 480
* 1024 x 768
* 1280 x 720 (equivalent to 720p)
* 1280 x 768
* 1280 x 1024
* 1360 x 768
* 1920 x 1080

ok thats not too bad then. I can find an old black and white TV in my atic that will last me till november 18th.

Thanks for the answer guys. 🙂 *Hands 2 E-cookies

Same here. Looked great up until I bought an HDTV and moved the 360 to that. Before that I had it connected to my Dell 2007FPW and it looked perfect with the VGA cable.

I had mine on a Viewsonic 19" @ 1440x900 and looked good to me. I now have it running @ 1360x769 on my 32" Westy.

Personally I liked the computer monitor better b/c I sat closer, but I like having the surround sound in the living room.

Yeah, when I had it hooked to my 20.1 LCD I was sitting right there as I used it for my PC too, now its on my 32" sammy and I sit further away, but I couldnt do RB drums at my PC desk so I live with it. 🙂

The 360 is a lot better than the PS3 in this regard. Just about any monitor will work, regardless of its native resolution. And you can buy a HDMI 2 DVI adapter for like $4 on monoprice.com. You might be better off going with the VGA cable. Under $10 at monoprice as well. And no, I do not work for monoprice!

ok thanks, maybe I wont have to wait for the update then once I buy one.

Also, I can probably make my own VGA cable as I work at a custom cabling place. Just have to find the wiring diagram from somewhere.
