XBOX 360 HD-DVD drive $89 with Free Movie

The timing of this is a little unfortunate considering the imminent demise of HD-DVD :laugh:. Well, at least Sony finally won one, after BetaMax and MiniDisc.

Yes, but MS has plans on releasing HD-DVD XBOX titles and future plans on intergrating the HD-DVD drive into the XBOX it's self.

They have been planning it, but there's no guarantee of it being released. Just like Nintendo and the 64DD or Sega and the ZIP drive.

Even if HD-DVD never materializes, those of you with MACBOOK AIR should stand up and take note, this drive is cheaper than the DVD drive APPLE sells.
 
The MB Air comment is so odd. Let's break down why. XBox 360 HDDVD drive requires a power brick, is not portable, slim, or a burner.

All three articles are dated Sept of 2006. A lot has changed since then. It was planned for the 2nd gen Xbox 360. 2nd gen units have already been out and they do not have these integrated drives. I'm pretty certain Microsft has seen the writing on the wall.

I'm not trying to put a damper on the deal. It's a good price for a very good HD player. Like AmberClad said, it's just unfortunate about the fate of HD DVD.
 
Now it is $49.99 at Best Buy and Amazon. Just got Circuit to price guarantee against Best Buy and got one for $41.99.
