Xbox 360 having trouble with a specific game

My friend's 360 doesn't like to play Fight Night round 3. He rented it a couple weeks ago, and it had lots of trouble reading it. It would either not load and the Xbox would come up with an error saying "Please put in a valid Xbox 360 disc" and it showed that error in numerous languages. Since the disc was a rental it was scratched up pretty bad. We liked the game a lot so he bought it anyways, brand new, flawless disc, and it's having even more problems than before. The weird thing is, all other games play fine, with only the usual lag and slowdowns when the Xbox gets heated up. Even when we do get it to boot, it usually can't get through a round without a disc read error.

So, it seems like the 360 just doesn't like that specific game. Anyone ever have a prob like this? Wondering if we can fix it somehow...but it's under warranty anyways so he can get a new one.

Btw, this game is beautiful on a 50" plasma HD screen :D - Best looking game i've seen to date. Lots of fun, too.

Damn weird problem, never heard of it.

That game is fun for like 3 days then you realize it has no depth to it whatsoever and online is a haymaker fest.

That's why I sold it to someone on AT heh.

I realized that as soon as I played the demo. You might try deleting out all related game files on the hard drive and seeing if that helps, maybe one got corrupted in the data transfer from the bad disk so it tries accessing a bad file?

That shouldn't cause a read Error.

My friends Xbox started making a grinding noise from his DVD drive. 2 Days later it stopped reading discs, and It's his second Xbox and it is now out of warranty. So his options are paying $140 and getting MS to fix, paying 65 for a new drive and screw with modding the firmware to get it to work in his Xbox, or Sell his Xbox and buy a Wii. He's currently leaning towards #3.

I know most 360's have problems in general, but never heard of any cases like this exactly.

The fight night disc is flawless, while he has some other games that have scratches and the other games play fine.

I'm satisfied with the depth of the game, you can't just keep throwing haymakers if you're playing a good opponent, button bashing doesn't work well. Plus you're guy will get tired quickly. I wouldn't play it online because of the lag.

Ok, thanks. He probably knows how to do that...but how is it done? Does it delete any game save files or anything like that?

Nope all of that stuff will be fine. If he doesn't know how to do it just tell him to google search. I can't remember off the top of my head but its some button combination on the system memory screen.
