XBOX 360 Game lengths

I'm gonna go get a used game today but short games really annoy me. Anyone know the approximate length of these games or maybe have any better suggestions?

Rainbow 6: Vegas
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
The Darkness
Dead Rising
Graw2
Crackdown

Also which would you reccomend?

I loved crackdown, but it wasnt very long.. Cant remember the exact hours, but similar in length to Bioshock.

Of course it takes considerably longer to go around and gain all the achievements, but finishing the game itself was pretty quick.

Yeah, I'd put it at about 20-25 hours, and that was my only complaint about it. Really a great game, very fun, highly recommended especially at its current price < $30 used. I hope they make a Crackdown 2. It was a good idea bundling it with the Halo 3 beta test - they sold a lot of copies to people who otherwise might have ignored it.

R6: Vegas was pretty fun but the campaign is pretty short (15 hours for me but i only played a little at once), there is a terrorist hunt mode which is similar to CS:S bot matches. The game is tilted toward mp though. Seems like most FPS's now are all about the multi... sigh 🙁

The games you mentioned are from a few different genres, personally I'd take more than length into consideration. I'll tell what I know on each:

  • -Rainbow 6: Vegas - Campaign takes about 15 hours but if you play online there is a lot of replay value. I believe it's chrisg (bucwylde) that seemed to play this for months straight so I think there's an ATCF community you could tap into.

-Marvel Ultimate Alliance - This took me about 12-15 hours or so. I loved the last-gen X-Men Legends games and this is more of the same so it felt a bit stale. I found that the online community is rather young and that kind of took away from the online part. If you have pre-existing friends in mind I bet it would be fun. I connected about 4 or 5 times and each time I was joined up with what sounded like pre-teen boys.

-The Darkness - No experience, but reviews mentioned it was short with little replay value.

-Dead Rising - I liked it a lot but it is a bit short. You can play through the single player once in about 10 hours but there are enough things to do that you might want to play it a few times. No online or co-op, sadly.

-Graw2 - No experience with this one at all.

-Crackdown - This is one of my favorite titles for the 360 so far. If you plow through it you could probably do it in about 15 hours while leveling up, but there's so much to do in the city (sandbox game) that I took my time and stretched it to 30 or so hours. The achievements in this one are actually quite interesting and I found they added to the gameplay quite a bit, unlike some other games where they feel tacked on. Also, there were recently a LOT of cheap copies of Crackdown on eBay because many people bought it just for the Halo 3 beta and got rid of it after beta ended. You should be able to find this one quite cheap.

From your list, I'd say The Darkness and Dead Rising might be rentals just because of the length, but the others seem to be good enough and have enough replay value to get either now or eventually.

Holy hell, the achievement for reaching the top of the tower was stressful.

This was one of the first games that I played when I got my 360 in April, but I remember a lot of the agility races right around the central tower ended with you at the top of that tower. It didn't get much easier the 5th or 6th time up.

Darn, now even with my current game backlog I want to go back to exact some vigilante justice.

  • Actually I STILL play R6:V online regularly 🙂 The COD4 beta has been taking up a lot of my time lately, though. Anytime anyone is up to play some just let me know. The single player campaign is pretty good but not all that long. The game really is geared towards multiplayer which is fine by me.

I thought crackdown was a hell of a lot of fun. Definitely a buy since you can get it cheap now. I put so much time into finding all of the agility orbs... but I gave up trying to find all of the hidden orbs.

I thought Dead Rising was "OK" but glad I rented it and didn't pay full price for it.

    GRAW2:
Pretty fun game, but if you aren't into multiplayer there isn't much reason to actually buy it.

    Marvel Ultimate Alliance:
Didn't really care for this game but I managed to stick with it and played all the way through. It really didn't take all that long to beat it.

I think I'll pick up Rainbow6 (since it really is my type of game) and crackdown to play between Halo3 and skate sessions. I went to buy Rainbow6 last night and it is still like 59 dollars new and 55 dollars used at the gamestop. I think I'll be getting it off ebay lol. Thanks for the help.

I'm 99.9 percent certain another CrackDown is on the way. The New World Order storyline should have us fighting against the powers that be this time. Besides, they have to let us find and frag the A-hole that advises, admonishes, and lectures you, until you turn the voice down. "I can see my house from here!" My thought: Yeah, I wish I could, so I can nuke it into orbit. 😉

I'd recommend R6:Vegas or GRAW2 if they are "you're kind of game". They are both awesome, solid games from Ubisoft. I like the multiplayer of R6:Vegas better than GRAW2...but single player in both are strong. I don't remember how long each took me...but 15 hours for each one sounds about right. As I said...both are VERY solid games in my book (I like military type shooters). I've been playing COD4 and can't wait for it to come out. It is a little more "arcady" then R6 and GRAW (at least from the multiplayer beta I've been playing)....but still top notch...it's good to have some variation.

I'd recommend Bioshock the most though...I'm still being amazed by this game each time I get a chance to play it....so much fun.

Ha, I completely forgot about that. I thought it was funny, though. At the time it reminded me of Bruce Campbell's narration from the Spider-Man 2 game, which in my opinion is not a bad thing.

Heh, I didn't mind his comments too much.

I hope they can do it without changing the dynamics of the game TOO much. I mean, the Peacekeepers were pretty useless and mostly just got in the way (and then got pretty pissed when you killed them for getting in the way), so I could do without them on my side. But one thing I liked about this game that differed from other sandbox games was that I didn't have to deal with saving money to buy guns and ammo. That's easy to explain away when you're fighting for the police, but not so easy to explain if you're fighting AGAINST them.

Yeah Bioshock was great. I beat it twice now and I'm gonna save my last achievement (beating it on hard) for a few months from now when I want to run through it again.

Graw2 looked awesome to me but I heard the SP was only like 5 hours and I wouldn't play it online because I'll have COD4, Halo3, and Orange Box for that. The COD4 beta is great. I'll be playing that alot.

G.R.A.W. 2 is seriously fun multiplayer - granted, with CoD4 and Halo3 coming out, I probably won't be playing it as much. I really do enjoy the 3rd person aspect though, so I won't throw it out.

Hmm...I swear it took me longer...but I play the games sporadically, so I could be off a good bit. I also might be adding the time playing GRAW 1 and GRAW 2 together since I've played both.
