Xbox 360 DVI question

I could free up one of my component inputs on my receiver if I could hookup my 360 to the DVI input on the back of my TV. From what I've researched, the only way to do this is by using the VGA cable and attaching a VGA to DVI adapter.

Would this cause any kind of loss in picture quality? Something tells me this might not be the best option.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The 360 doesn't have a digital video output. VGA = Analog, so even if you used a DVI connector, it likely wouldn't work. Most TVs will be expecting a digital signal on their DVI plug.

Yep. More than likely the DVI port on the back of your TV is DVI-D (digital only). You won't be able to hook it via VGA. It would need to be DVI-A or DVI-I for you to be able to hook it up.
