Xbox 360 DivX/Xvid Question

I have DivX/Xvid setup great on my Xbox, but the only problem is that I can't get playback to work offline. Everytime I try to play offline it says I need a new codec, so I get online and it will play, but apparently it doesn't save the codec by default. Is there a way to set this up so I don't have to connect to Live to get DivX to work?

Um, you don't need to be signed onto Live to watch divx files.

Yea... That's what I thought, but as I said it doesn't find the codec unless I'm connected to Live.

That's weird since you should have the codec once it's downloaded no matter if you're signed on or not.

Ok after playing around a bit it turns out it's a small bug. The workaround is just to download the "Optional Media Update" on a different XBL account. So far everything seems to be working as it should.

Xvid and Divx are both mpeg-4 ASP codecs. Not every unique encoding flag will be supported, but most files Divx/Xvid should play fine.
