Look up guides online, you can actually take off the plastic shell and point a fan at it, and the whole thing will run a good bit cooler. Those first few gens of fats are just flaky as all hell.

And if one has already been fixed, it's a time bomb 9/10 times. PS3 fat Ylod is the same way.

Good to know about Zephyr but I'm a little bit surprised given that the HDMI model came out so much later. I would've expected a CPU die shrink by that point but I guess not.

I guess this was just another indication of the state of consumer PowerPC at the time.

I have a three month warranty on this new replacement, but I understand it might die in a year or two. If it does maybe I'll just pick up a Wii. I missed that entire generation if Nintendo games.
