I got one of these because I like their ergonomics and they are supposed to "easily" work with the PC. However, relying on MS to make anything easy is clearly a bad idea. Although it installed automatically once I plugged it in, the results were less than satisfactory: it was poorly calibrated by default and very tough to manually set up to get the full range of motion, proper deadzones, etc. Worse yet, the rumble functionality didn't work at all.
I then grabbed XBCD drivers online, which improved the calibration a lot and allowed rumble to "work" - that is, the controller could physically rumble, but it still didn't do it properly. In Need for Speed: Most Wanted, turning the car left/right would make it rumble but hitting walls or other cars wouldn't. In MVP Baseball 2005, it would rumble at the proper times, but it was always on "full" rumble. That is, when you're pitching, the controller would shake the same amount while the ball was on the edge of the strike zone as when it was way outside, so the rumble was useless in locating the pitches.
has anyone gotten the rumble functionality to work fully/properly on this thing?
cliffs: anyone know how to make rumble work on the 360 controller for the PC?
