Xbox 360 Compatiblity

you need the hard drive and u have to download an update for each game, right?
or u can download teh update on pc, burn to cd, and load on xbox360 as well.

 
I have the hard drive, so I guess I just have to go online.

You are saying that I have to run an update for each Xbox game, or is there a system upgrade for compatibility?
