Are the console versions of battlefield as good as Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 on pc in multiplayer?
I mean can you like go on a suicide run in a plane, jump out at the last minute and fire at enemies below as you parachute your way to the ground? :D

Checked out BF:BC review, game looks good, but no planes?
Why would they do that, its one of the most fun vehicles in multiplayer.

So, no battlefield games on the xbox 360 have planes?
Not even BF2 : Modern combat?

If not, i hope BF3 does.

BF:BC is good, but nowhere near BF2. The maps are good and the draw distance is incredible for a console. Snipers actually stay hidden at long range.

As others have said, no airplanes, no parachutes and also no going prone. You can stand and crouch on one knee, but cannot lay down. Another annoyance is not being able to bail out of a chopper once the chopper takes enough damage to 'kill' it. You have to wait through the 'chopper-spinning-out-of-control-then-blowing-up' animation and then die. You cannot bail out even if you're 2 feet of off the ground. Also, you can't exactly 'Jihad Jeep' like you could in BF2. When you bail out of a vehicle, they QUICKLY roll to a stop. The small vehicles don't roll for some distance as they do in BF2.

Thanks for the excellent description.
Seems i'd be disappointed compared to the pc Battlefield games.
Thats what i wanted to know.

I'll wait on BF3 and most likely grab the pc version, since im better with KB/Mouse anyway.

BF2 Modern Combat for the 360 is awesome. An old game, but there are still plenty of people playing it. I didn't really care for Bad Company much. It's OK. From what most people say though, both games pale in comparison to the PC versions. (I'm not a PC gamer, so I like the console versions)

I've been enjoying bad company quite a bit. Yes, it's simplified (consolized?) compared to BF2, but you could argue a lot of it was necessary and a good choice to make a game that plays well on a gamepad and is easy to get into. I actually like the fact that there aren't tons of planes everywhere blowing my ass up and being fought over by teammates.

The progression in ranks and unlocks seems simple and nice. At the end of each game, you get a very informative screen about how you've progressed, how far you have to go to get to the next rank, what medals you got, etc.

I just went and grabbed the Battlefield 2 complete Collection from EA for the pc.
That should keep me occupied until BF3.

Im better off with a KB/Mouse anyway.
