xbox 360 and wireless

gonna be picking up a 360 soon, and dont fancy shelling out for the USB wifi dongle thingy.

i was wondering if you can just get a wireless access point, and then jus plug the xbox in to it?

it would be the same as just plugging it into a router with ethernet cable right? only theres a some ethernet cable then some wifi action instead of just a long cable

You could only if your access point could act as a point to point, instead of just a regular access point or even have a bridging capability. Then you will need to make sure your wireless router ( I presume you already have one) can also support this.

Is an article that might be able to help you.

edit: I am not suggesting you go this route (since the adapter is as expensive as the Official one that works well, but so you can get an idea behind what you want to do. I am sure there are other cheaper solutions, but most of the cheap units do not support htis sort of connections, so you might be forced into a $120-ish purchase no matter what.)
