I "inherited" and LCD projector. Took it home with great expectations of playing my 360 on my wall at 60"! Currently my 360 goes to my 21" WS PC screen and to my old school TV (not ready for an HDTV just yet). Anyway, I hook up my HD-VGA cable to the projector and plug in the red and white sound cable to the LCD. Looks GREAT, HD on my big white wall. But, no sound from LCD projector. I go into 360 settings and only sound options are digital ones. Does the VGA cable NOT put out sound via the white and red audio cable? What the hell are the analog cable there for anyway if they wont put out sound? I hooked up the composite adio and video to the LCD and it works but looks like crap being its not HD. Whats the point of the freaking audio L and R cable if they dont work?

It outputs just fine through the analog RCA cables. I've had both Optical and RCA outputting at the same time with my VGA cable.

I guess the big question is, what LCD projector is it? Perhaps its only setup as a pass through and doesn't have a speaker in it? I cant imagine that a projector would output great sound at all anyway.

Its an Infocus. It has a built in speaker and has worked with other consoles. I get not analog option in my 360 when I am using the VGA-HD cables. If I use the composite cables all is fine but I dont get the HD quality on the screen and no sound. I put the composite cable into the LCD and all works. When the 360 is connected to the TV I use the composite and I use the optical to my 7.1 receiver and all works great. When I use the VGA-HD cables on my PCs LCD I use optical also to another 7.1 recever and again all works great. Its just when I use the VGA-HD cables with the LCD projector that I get great video but no sound and in my 360s audio settings I get no analog options, just dolby digital stereo, dolby digital 5.1 and dolby digital 5.1 with WMA. May have to use optical for the sound to my revceiver. Wanted one nice little LCD ptojector to do it all but I guess I cant.

What you could do is get a component to VGA cable - they're on monoprice for pretty cheap, and it's what I use for my projector so I don't have to go and buy a VGA cable for everything.

Its possible. I tried again lastnight, used my 360 composite cable and the audio and video works fine on the LCD projector, switched to my HD VGA cable and video works great but no sound. I connected the rca contacts to my headphone and could hear sound so I know the cable works. Guess I will just have to buy some converter and use external speakers. I would continue to use my receiver but the projector is oriented to the left wall and the sound from the stereo system would be on the right. Not good for Halo 3 enemy approaching listening. :)
