Xbox 360: 3 red lights! 4-6 week turn around time! Is this normal? Anyway to expedite the process?

This couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm sitting here with a broken ankle for the next 4 weeks and my Xbox takes a dump. I'm having it sent in for repairs but the turn around time is 4-6 weeks! That's absurd!

Is there anyway to expedite the process? Did it always take this long?

yup, it sucks, expect at least a month wait. you could always buy another one (maybe used core system and use your hard drive with it) and then sell it when you get yours back. otherwise play something else.
 
Yeah, I've heard the 360's have had as much as 33% failure rate. I've been lucky with mine so far (knock on wood) but I think I'm going to take some preemptive action before I get the RROD. You can do particular mods to increase the cooling (more powerful exhaust fan) and putting Arctic Silver on the CPU/GPU to cool it down some more. Right now I would suggest getting a good handheld (DS/PSP) or play some PC games.
 
it doesnt actually take the 4-6 weeks... its just ms covering their ass in the rare event it actually takes that long.

it usually takes 2 weeks total although sometimes its a few days and sometimes more.
 
The wait time is absolute BS. Everyone was so happy about the extended warranty but I've heard of people waiting 6 - 8 weeks. That's just not acceptable. Imagine if this was your car or your [insert what you really like]. They need to do better.
 
its more like 2 weeks. since well UPS doesn't work on weekends.

It'll take how many days UPS ground takes to go from texas to you, then you ship back to them via 3 days service.

they'll return it you via ground service. the replacement usually goes out the same day they recieve your shipment.

Seeing as how your living in Illinois it may just be 1.5 week if not faster.

 
Yea thats is kinda stinky.

Mine was about 3 weeks turn around time.

My PS3s never had a problem though. Course there are not too many games out for it yet.

It reminds me of the time I had my car stolen on a Friday while living in Norman, Oklahoma (in an area where you really couldn't walk to anything), then had my cable internet die for the weekend. That was brutal!
