I think its great how they made the console upgradeable like this. Now the question is, did they fix any of the bugs?

On the PS3 this update would have been available for the first 6 people* at the price of 900 dollars and it would have still been too cheap! Europe would get this update at the ridiculously cheap price of 900 euros** in the year 2021***, but they don't mind.

* Although seven billion pre-orders were sold
** In Sony's world $1 = ?1
*** Really in 2029 after the delays

:D

I believe reading elsewhere that it will...although someone will have to verify this.

IIRC it will only upconvert over VGA.

I think that is what it currently does (up to the selected resolution for the VGA output), but it actually will upconvert over component with this update. I could be wrong though...I'll see if I can find where I read that.

It doesn't upconvert over component beyond 480p. Has to do with laws/regulations involving from whatever DVD standards committee. They won't allow upconverting over an analog signal/component cables. VGA cables are exempt from that though.

Correct. The Xbox 360 will never upconvert DVD to HD over component.

Man it is sweet being able to stream .wmv videos. I just went to gametrailers.com and downloaded a few to test out, works great.

Yeah, I need to find something that is good at converting xvid to WMV. Not ideal but not much of a choice until MS gets their head out of their rear and makes an effort to support Xvid/Divx.
