IGN article.

Looks to be an exciting first day of E3 this year. We've got the 3 major new systems showing. Me thinks the first showing will be do or die for Nintendo alone, as IMO, they are the only one that have something to lose this go-around.

EDIT: Figured I should edit this thing since people are still posting to it, and the news has been updated :).

I'm quite interested to see if Microsoft in fact unveils 2 or 3 different kinds of Xbox 2 (e.g., a basic model with out a HD, a middle one with a HD, etc.)

I can see Average Joe Gamer being convinced that he needs the most expensive model by the local store clerk.

Hmm, I had considered going to E3, except I can't afford to go down there...

God do I hope they do NOT do this, although I'm sure Microsoft will. I really don't think this is a good thing to do for the console industry. Consoles are great because of the standardization. Multiple choices will confuse the consumer and lengthen development cycles. I hate Microsoft for even thinking of doing this. :|

and then later realizing that he might as well build himself a new computer for what hes getting

I'm already registered and have the flight and hotel booked...

the PC side of things could be interesting as well....Duke Nukem Forever,(gasp) may finally see the light of day....Quake 4, Unreal 3....and a rumored Call of Duty 2, using one of the newer engines....the Star Wars RTS game......Stalker, if it's not already out...

The worst thing about this show is that it always makes me upgrade my hardware after seeing everything running so nicely on the top end stuff!

Should be pretty cool. I think XBOX2 will have by far the most playable content and information. Sony is probably scrambling right now just to not be left out of the hype. I don't think they will have quite the punch MS has since they are banking on this.

get ready to pay big bucks for gfx.

I'm prepared to spend a little money on GFX, but I'd REALLY like to see an overclocking ATI chipset MB for the 939 AMD64 rig I'm about to build...I just got XBOX1 a month ago, so XBOX2 is a bit down the road for me.....I'm excited to see the XBOX2 launch however!

I think I'll wait a bit on the xbox 2. Give some time to let the price drop a bit. Oh yea, and some time for the hgeeks to figure out how to mod it. I love my modded xbox. It's so awesome "backing up" all of my games.

I'm glad you think it's "so awesome" to steal games. I'm guessing you wouldn't think it was "so awesome" if someone else were stealing from your line of work.

Ass.

Why? Do you not have an XBox already? If I need to play older XBox games, I'll just use my XBox I have now.

What do you mean why? For the same reason I dumped PSX when I bought PS2. Kill two birds with one stone: sell old console to recuperate some of the cost, and to eliminate clutter.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll be pre-ordering an Xbox 2 and picking it up on release day. :)
