xbox 1 kinect users, questions.

So I just got the kinect for my xb1 mostly to use to easily skype with my wife and kids while on trips.

Any tips and trips for kinect? It seems everything I find online is outdated and to be honest I'm pretty frustrated with the kinect right now.

Isn't it supposed to recognize my voice against my wife's voice? It doesn't seem to care who is talking.

Gestures aren't working, looks like those are gone.

The xbox on command isn't working at all. Most of the other commands seem to kind of work, more or less.

It honestly sounds like you just plugged it in and configured exactly nothing. Voices have to be trained, and settings need to be adjusted.

It works pretty well for me. The only issue I have is sometimes it takes a couple of times to get it to turn on. There is almost a cadence to the way you have to say "Xbox On" to get it to work. All of the other commands seem to work fine. I don't use the gestures at all, but sometimes if I move my arm a certain way while I'm watching TV it picks up on it.

I purely use mine for Skype which it does well at. The only odd thing is that it tries to follow who's talking which can confuse it at times.

I thought the thing could tell when an authorized user is present and come alive automatically. Also, it'd be nice to assign your own words for various functions. "Bill Gates is the Devil" would be easy to recognize and turn the system on.

Yeah If someone says a command the xbox is listening for it will react. Kind of annoying.

I guess you could just use a headset for the chat and the kinect only for video.

Run through the config. And turn off the follow thing - that was awful. It'd try to follow me and just get it wrong at times, so the video stream would be of an empty chair or the wall or something.
